MY MESSAGE

I was reading through the dailies when it hit me like a blow of awakening and enlightenment: “To be a leader……..To be an achiever………..To be the greatest. THINK POSSIBLE” For me while this statement best captures the essence of Bank PHB’s new ad campaign with the theme: Achieve the extraordinary, for me on a personal level it best captures the essence of my life’s struggles, the legacy I want to bequeath to future generations and indeed my message to my generation. The bane of our youth and indeed the larger society, has been a full knowledge of what doesn’t work, what can’t work and what will never work, thus the wretched state of our economic and social lives. Even without trying we know what is impossible. “That? Me? No, impossible” is a common refrain amongst the majority of us. My message is one of POSSIBILITY CONSCIOUSNESS. Rather than saying it cant be done “Impossible” we must learn to say “I’m possible.” We must learn to carry a POSSIBILITY CONSCIOUSNESS in our heads and hearts, allowing it to reflect in our every action. My message however is one of hope, of the beauty tomorrow holds, only if we TRY. We need to learn how to think outside the box, for as Einstein said “problems cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them.” To discover what is POSSIBLE we must begin as a matter of national emergency, a program of self – discovery and self – application. MY MESSAGE to the youth of today is that the solution to our problems cannot be found in meaningless strife and purposeless activity. The solution to our problems cannot be found through wasting countless hours watching home videos, nor are they to be found in music videos which are mostly vulgar, not in the sticks of cigarette nor wraps of weed. Even bottles of alcohol have failed, as have expensive phones, shoes, clothes and a host of other material things. Only within us does true change and progress begin. Each must define his own vision for life, within the context of benefit to others. By defining our vision we would each find the road that leads to it, rather than following the crowd mentality, each must discover his own path and seek to be a leader in that sphere. The man who follows the crowd is bound to get lost in it. While being focused we must always seek to extend the light in our lives, so that our every action is based on knowledge and purpose. In order to increase the light we must see our life as a big learning curve. Knowledge indeed is power. We must therefore see education as a lifetime endeavor “education for life not for living.” We must become “students of life and students for life” seeking knowledge and understanding with every fiber of our being. We must emerge from the shadows of negative press (real and imagined) in which we have been cast, to shine a positive light on our world through our deeds, be they so little. It is our time to shine, shine our light, brimming with optimism, faith and positive actions powered by POSSIBILITY CONSCIOUSNESS. In closing I borrow the words of my dear Bank PHB again “Impossible is possible that hasn’t been done” and “If it doesn’t exist…………invent it.” We have no excuse whatsoever for not embarking on a lifetime journey of potential maximization.
